Lansweeper has shared a new research report on Windows usage rates. According to the new report, the upgrade rate to Windows 11 was well below what was expected.

TPM requirement affects usage rate

In the shared report, Lansweeper, which uses the data of more than 10 million Windows devices working in work and home networks, also says that old operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows 7, which were discontinued by Microsoft, account for about 1 in 10 Windows devices.

While it is thought that the low usage and upgrade rates of Windows 11 are due to the TPM chip in the system requirements, Roel Decneut, the chief marketing officer of Lansweeper, stated that using end-of-life operating systems poses a great cyber security risk.
